Amazon Kindle Response

Authors Note: I read the article “Amazon Updates Its Kindle Line of E-Readers” on “www.nytimes.com”. This article was about Amazon’s line of Kindles and their features. This article also included comparisons between The Kindle and other tablets such as The ipad, The Barnes-Noble Nook, and The Nexus 7.

Modern technology is often very confusing. People are always wondering things like, “Why would I get that?” or, “What’s the need for this?” When people figure out why we want something the question comes to, “Which brand?” I recently read an article from the New York Times on the Amazon Kindle and how it compared to similar products.

The original Amazon Kindle is a great product with great features. The Kindle turns a page in under a half a second. When you want to read outside you can with the kindle; you can read in the sun easily without a glare. Though my favorite part as a Kindle owner is the battery life; the Amazon Kindle’s battery lasts up to six weeks.

Although the Kindle has all of these great features, Amazon wants to be the best at what they do. When other company’s products brought threat to the Kindle,  Amazon stepped up their game. To challenge tablets they made the Kindle touch screen which did indeed help Amazon’s sales. Short after Google came out with The Nexus 7 for $200 Amazon copied and came out with a seven-inch color screen tablet for $160.After Amazon realized the Barnes and Noble Nook had a lighted screen the kindle matched that by adding a lighted screen.

A good part about the Kindle is that it came out in many different prices and styles. It goes from a $70 black and white version e-reader all the way to a $600 tablet with many other versions in between.  Depending on what version you get you get different features. Some have 3g capability, some have touch screen, and some even have games.

One problem about e-readers is that people don’t understand why you would ever get one.  They don’t understand the need for them when you can just read books. There are many advantages to having e-readers. You don’t have to go to a store to get a new book you can just download one from where you are. Another advantage is that they are a lot smaller and easier for travel. There is no need for a bookmark, because they save automatically.

Most technology is very complex. Not many people understand the need for all of the different gadgets. Between music players, cell phones, tablets, and way more you won’t know what to buy. Then after you figure out what you want, you have to find out what product you want. After reading the article “Amazon Updates Its Kindle Line of E-Readers” you’ll know exactly what what product you want.

  1. I really enjoyed this piece. I love my Kindle that I got and I agreed with everything you said. I especially liked how you informed people how the Kindle is better than let's say the nook. It seemed almost like a persuasive piece with I thought was good. Good job!
